Framework Knitting Loom

The Framework Knitting Loom reflects the Village’s history as a centre for the knitting industry, which provided a livelihood for very many families as evidenced in the folder on the seat of the loom itself. There are six premises in the village which were such centres.
Dead Mens’ Pennies
These are commemorative in terms of World War I Dead, and are beautiful in their own right
The Victorian Toy Farm
The Museum is itself housed in a building belonging to what was a working farm, and one of the main industries locally was farming. This item appeals to the younger visitors.
The ‘Dinky’ Curlers
Beauty objects have been used by ladies for many years. They are objects that very many young ladies are astonished to discover, as they look rather like instruments of torture! What women will do to alter their appearances!!
Christening Robe and Baby’s Bonnet
These items reflect apparel worn at one of the stages of life. These are not currently on display. They are a good example of “hidden gems”.
